Our Story
A year after Hurricane Helene, our roots run deeper than ever. Through faith, hard work, and your kindness, our farm has come back to life.
On September 27, 2024, Hurricane Helene tore through our county with relentless wind speeds reaching up to 175 MPH and nearly 36 inches of rain. Like so many in our community, we faced unimaginable loss. Helene hit our farm with full force—destroying Dawn and Waightstill’s home, the barn, our office space, farm equipment, trailers, trucks, and nearly everything we had built over generations.
In the days that followed, communication was lost, roads and bridges were impassable, and families across the county were displaced. Once we knew our loved ones were safe, we faced the heartbreaking reality that our beloved family farm was not.
But through it all, our friends, family, and community surrounded us with love, encouragement, and prayer. You showed up, called, messaged, and gave—lifting us when we didn’t know how to begin again.
Now, one year later, we stand in awe of what God has done through your kindness. Our farm has been rebuilt, our trees are growing again, and our hearts are full of gratitude. What once felt like devastation has turned into a testimony of hope and restoration.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us rebuild. We are forever grateful—and if we don’t get to hug your neck on this side of Heaven, we surely will on the other side. To donate, please click here.
